After watching a trailer seemingly among a pile of crap movies up and coming for straight to DVD releases I came across “Laid To Rest”.  Laid To Rest is a modern day slasher coming to DVD from writer/director Robert Hall.  Now I don’t know whether faith can be put into this director to make a good horror film as this is his first film entirely, though he has extensive work as a special effects artist.

     The movie features an intensely iconic looking killer with a silver skull mask and 2 serrated hunting knifes (as his trademark at least).  The plot, as far as the trailer goes is about a girl who wakes up with no memory and ends up realizing she was abducted by this killer as he pursues her continuously.  I am really excited to see this movie for one simple, maybe not so simple, reason.  This is the only movie as of yet that looks as if it could bring back the golden age era of horror films.  Slashers with no remorse, respect or emotion like Halloween.  This is why I’m so hyped.

     The reason why I have hesitations however is the fact that the movie may not have up to par actors and Directing for that matter.  All of Laid To Rest’s actors are relative floaters with no real density in experience.  In the trailer for example, you can clearly see some acting flaws right off the bat.  THE OFFICIAL TRAILER by the way!!!  I saw some retarded trailer with some dumb fucking music like I have never heard before.  The official trailer has really good tension building drones and should be the official movie theme as well.  We will see how the DVD comes out because this is one of the DVDs I am excited about picking up before actually seeing it.  You can see the trailer in the Fear-Tube section.
