Day Left: Movies You Must See This Halloween
Day Left: Movies You Must See This Halloween

.Blue Sunshine (1976): This B-Movie directed by Jeff Lieberman never established itself among horror fans, maybe due to it’s limited advertisement and release. It’s a great movie about a mysterious drug that causes some un-expected reactions. It has some great laughs and fairly good acting. It’s the perfect movie to start off a marathon. An under-rated movie by and under-rated director.
.Jaws (1975): Nothing opens up a great night of horror than this Steven Spielberg classic. Anybody who claims to know horror movies has seen this movie at least 10 times and it’s a really great party-opener. Nothing is better than biting into a Snickers in synchronization with the shark chomping on Robert Shaw.
.The Evil Dead I & II (1980’s): Evil Dead is so necessary for any horror movie marathon. It’s a funny-scary mix and Bruce Campbell is amazing. You can’t over-look the book of the dead.
.Halloween (1978): You can’t have a horror marathon without watching the movie that single handedly shaped a decade. One of John Carpenter’s many classics. It’s just a great film and was done expertly, it’s too bad terrible directors continue to tear apart the iconic Michael Myers to this day.
.Night of The Living Dead (1968): Another movie that defined a huge chunk of the horror genre. Nothing tops the original George A. Romero classic except maybe his Dawn of The Dead film which is next on my Halloween playbill.
.Dawn of The Dead (1978): The year of 1978 gave birth to the best slasher film of all time and maybe the best zombie film of all time. Needless to say they both rocked the hell out of the horror genre. Most of this movie as many know features survivors trying to outsmart the zombie epidemic by hiding in a shopping mall.
.Re-Animator (1985): After the two iconic zombie films nothing rounds the sub-genre up better than the Stuart Gordon classic. It’s like a cross between Evil Dead, Dawn of The Dead and Land of The Dead. Haha. It really is a movie of it’s own kind with an up-beat intro and more unique make-up and effects.
.Hellraiser I & II (1980’s): I can’t let this double feature go by. Hellraiser is such a unique movie and is scary, creepy and gory. Some of the best acting the horror genre has to offer. Take a trip with the cenobites.
.Cannibal Holocaust (1980): I’m sorry to have to include this one into the mix. I just love this movie, but I know it’s gonna make some of you barf up your candy. Great acting, very realistic gore and sequences. It will have your stomach turning if it’s your first time seeing it.
10. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974): I remember kids in elementary school talking about how they saw this movie and were terrified. I’m so glad I took their word for it and saw it. It’s a creepy movie with great acting and some really iconic characters. Tobe Hooper is a genius for creating what is known as one of the best horror films of all time.
